Two men suspected in a series of burglaries to cars and garages face felony charges following their arrest Friday by Elmhurst police.
Fernando Galvan, 20, of the 5100 block of West 23rd Street, Cicero, and Tyler Almaguer, 22, of the 2100 block of North Melvina, Chicago, have each been charged with one count of burglary and one count of burglary to a motor vehicle.
Galvan and Almaguer appeared in bond court Saturday where DuPage County Judge Alex McGimpsey set bond at $20,000 for Galvan and $30,000 for Almaguer. Additional charges may be forthcoming, prosecutors said.
The charges stem from allegations that on Jan. 25, the two men traveled to Elmhurst to burglarize cars, according to Elmhurst police. Once the pair arrived in Elmhurst they stole items from several unlocked cars, police said.
The man also allegedly entered several unattached garages and took items, including a smoker, ammunition and hunting gear.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin there have been several incidents lately of people traveling into the county to commit crimes, and said anyone committing such crimes will be prosecuted.
Galvan and Almaguer are due to appear against in court Feb. 26 before Judge John Kinsella.
