Chicago police issued an alert about a man suspected in a sexual assault that occurred last month in the West Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.

At 9:49 a.m. Jan. 4, a man began following a 33-year-old woman until he forced her to the 200 block of West 87th Street, where he assaulted her, police said.

Police describe the man as 19 to 25 years old, 175 to 205 pounds, brown eyes, short black hair and a dark complexion. He was wearing a red hoodie, black cap, black jacket, red jogging pants and black boots.

The man suspected of the attack is known to frequent the area of 87th Street along the Dan Ryan Expressway and beg for money, police said.
