Unattended cooking is being cited as the cause of a kitchen fire Tuesday evening that left a single-family home on Naperville’s south side uninhabitable.
Firefighters arrived at the house in the 500 block of Beaconsfield Avenue about 6:30 p.m. to find smoke coming from the roof line, according to Naperville Fire Department reports.
They were able to extinguish the main body of the fire within 15 minutes but the damage was severe enough that the family was not allowed to return, a department news release said.
Four adults and a child in the home evacuated before firefighters arrived, the release said.
No injuries to firefighters or residents were reported.
