Investigators are looking into multiple armed robbery incidents that occurred Thursday night in south Oak Park, with police adding they all could possibly be related.

The first incident occurred at 9:20 p.m. in the 1150 block of South Euclid Avenue when two pedestrians said they were approached by a man carrying a gun, police said. The gunman demanded their property and stole $20 from each pedestrian, police said.

The gunman is described as 16 to 19 years old, with a thin build and was wearing a hooded jacket, police said. After the robbery, he entered a dark car driven by an unknown person and fled the area, police said.

Seven minutes later, a Forest Park resident said he was walking in the 1150 block of Home Avenue when he was approached by a man holding a handgun, police said.

The man, described as in his 20s, standing 6 feet tall and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a design on the front, demanded the pedestrian’s property, police said.

The gunman then reached into the pedestrian’s pocket and stole an iPhone 11 valued at $1,000, police said.

Then at 9:40 p.m., an Oak Park resident said he was approached by a gunman in the 1100 block of Lyman Avenue, police said. The gunman is described as standing 6 feet tall with a thin build and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark skinny jeans, police said.

The gunman demanded property from the resident and stole the resident’s wallet and key fob, police said. The gunman then entered the resident’s car and fled the area. Total estimated loss is $20,520.

While he couldn’t say for sure that all three robberies were related, Oak Park police sergeant Joshua Bertels noted the incidents occurred in close proximity to each other within a short period of time.

“It’s a possibility they could be the work of the same individuals,” Bertels said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Oak Park Police Department at 708-386-3800. Crime tips may also be provided anonymously at 708-434-1636 or online at www.oak-park.us/crimetip.
