Prince Harry has paid back all of the renovation expenses that went toward his home with Meghan Markle near Windsor Castle.

The renovations, which were believed to have cost around $3 million, had been covered by taxpayers, People reported.

“A contribution has been made to the Sovereign Grant by the Duke of Sussex,” a representative for the couple told People.

“This contribution as originally offered by Prince Harry has fully covered the necessary renovation costs of Frogmore Cottage, a property of Her Majesty The Queen, and will remain the U.K. residence of the Duke and his family.”

Harry, 35, and Markle, 39, transitioned out of their royal duties at the end of March and have since moved to California.

They recently purchased a home in Santa Barbara, according to People.

“They have settled into the quiet privacy of their community since their arrival and hope that this will be respected for their neighbors, as well as for them as a family,” a rep for the magazine last month, saying the couple had moved into their family home in July.

Harry and Markle married in 2018 and welcomed their first child, son Archie, in May 2019.
