Rain is forecast to continue through Saturday, giving the Memorial Day weekend a stormy start. The storms kicked up dangerous waves along the lakefront creating high waves and closing Chicago beaches to swimming on the first day they were supposed to be open since 2019.

The city’s official weather station saw a quarter inch of rain in the last two days, not enough to get the dry spring back to normal levels. The lack of precipitation has parts of the area under drought conditions.

After what looks to be a stormy Saturday, Sunday and Monday are forecast for warmer temperatures, with no rain expected.
