What if I told you I had a right as a free American to drive drunk through your neighborhood at 70 mph while kids played outside? What if I saId “you can’t restrict my freedom to do whatever I want”? You’d (hopefully) think I was nuts. Thankfully, we have laws to protect public health and safety. Refusing to wear a mask to protect others from the COVID-19 you may be spreading because it “restricts your freedom” is as nuts as the drunk driver example. Who told you that American freedom means you can do anything you want whenever you want? That’s chaos and anarchy. That’s not America. Lincoln said, “Your freedom to swing your arm stops where my nose begins.” That says it all.
School districts are clamoring to recruit substitute teachers to work, in the case of teachers getting Covid. Masks are not required in many schools because of radical opposition from a handful of anti-maskers. These people seem to be the perfect ones for the job. I have to wonder how many are stepping up to be on call.
Donald Trump is attacking President Biden for the chaos in Afghanistan, after he was the one that gave the Taliban the deal. Trump called the terrorist group as great warriors and said they have a right to rule the country. Trump is trying to divert the blame for what he did to help cause the uprising.
In May 2020, Trump announced a peace agreement with the Taliban and a pullout of all U.S. troops by May 2021. He refused to meet with the current Afghanistan government. He even attempted to allow the Taliban to come to Camp David! Now every Republican is blaming Biden for the removal of troops. These hypocrites sure have selective memories.
“Biden is still respected on the World Stage”? Put down the crack pipe, Jen Psaki. Half the people of voting age in his own country don’t respect the senile old clown. He just thumbed his nose at Israel, Taiwan and South Korea by his bungling of Afghanistan. Fortunately not all people are as brain washed as you.
As an old history teacher, this debacle in Afghanistan reminds me of the old soldier’s phrase: F.U.B.A.R. — (expletive) up beyond all recognition.
Some of you may remember an early TV program presented by “20 Mule Team Borax” and hosted by Ronald Reagan. Mules are notorious for having a mind of their own and thus very hard to manage. So how did the teamster driving the rig manage 20 of these individually minded mules? He had a firm grip on the reins and a strong will to get all 20 mules headed in the right direction. Now can you imagine having two drivers each with 10 mules to control. What do you think the end result would be? We have only one President at a time for a reason and in the past we were all adult enough to support our President. That was until Donald J. Trump tried to overturn a fair election and through lies and misinformation talked a large portion of American Citizens into wrecking out democracy. Trump ordered the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. As with everything else Trump did not have a clue what result would be, but he was sure he was not going to be reelected. He left just another mess for Biden. So get the facts before you criticize our President.
To all the posters who are pushing for trial and, if found guilty, jailing of the January 6 mostly-peaceful protestors: agreed. But, only AFTER we finish the trials and jailing of the mostly-peaceful rioters/arsonists/looters from all the various cities in 2020 that caused over $2 billion in damages.
Party membership in the U.S. Senate is now tied at 50-50. But the 50 Democrats represent 41 million more citizens than the 50 Republicans. And even though Democrats have the tie-breaker with the Vice President’s vote, with the filibuster, Republicans can obstruct any legislation — and regularly do. During the Obama administration, for example, Republicans invoked filibuster rules more than 400 times, and they are now pledging to duplicate their record with Biden, starting with their obstruction of voting rights legislation. Now tell me again what a wonderful document our Constitution is, when a 41 million person plurality means absolutely nothing.
Children who cannot be vaccinated are now the most likely to contract and die from the delta variant of Covid. They can be protected by you wearing a mask and being vaccinated. Stop being selfish, be a patriot and save all of us. Get your vaccine.
Over 20,000 Mississippi students are in Covid quarantine after one week in school. The hospitals there are overwhelmed and the governor thinks that everything is just peachy-keen. We need a better prerequisite when picking these elected officials. Starting with common sense, empathy and a basic knowledge of how government works.
Trump supporters told us that Covid would end the day after the election last November. What happened?
