Flip a coin? Now that summer is in the rearview mirror and the days are becoming even shorter than our attention span, the time has come to concentrate on what’s really important — will it be Dalton or Fields guiding the Bears by Thanksgiving?

Super-spreader games: While broadcasters were overcome with emotion this past weekend trying to describe the excitement of those huge, unmasked crowds returning to college football, I envisioned ICU beds being filled to capacity in the coming days!

Kanye money misspent: I would be curious to know how much money was spent on the event and cleanup held by Kanye West at Soldier Field. He apparently has fond memories of his childhood home/neighborhood in Chicago. If that’s the case, I think that money would be much better spent helping the people in that neighborhood with aid and programs.

Expressway shooters: What are you politicians doing about the shootings on the expressways? What good are license plate cameras going to do when the state police can’t even catch the shooters? You civil liberties advocates cry don’t take away their rights but I say if they want to shoot and kill innocent people driving on the expressways the shooters have no rights.

Disastrous mayors: Chicago has had two mayors who were women, Jane Byrne and Lightfoot. Both disasters. Byrne had the fire strike in 1980. Lightfoot now in 2021, more crime and no support of the police. Wake up, voters.

Say goodbye: LaRussa’s got to go, now.

Crying in my beer: Dear Cub fans, don’t despair. The first 100 years is the hardest.

We’re a Republic: The United States is a republic, not a democracy. While our government is based on the will of the majority, solid protections were installed to protect the rights of the minority. The U.S. was founded on the concept of limited government with the three branches to serve as check and balance. The Bill of Rights guarantees individual rights and liberties. Seems many have forgotten our founding precepts.

Helping the enemy: Joe Biden handed over $85 billion to the Taliban and ISIS and al-Qaida. If you’re OK with that, shame on you. Joe Biden has gotten every foreign policy wrong for 50 years and that’s from his own party. You call President Trump narcissist. Well, I’ll take that over clueless Biden. Trump kept us safe.
