Focus on team, not just Fields: Football is a team sport and is measured by wins and losses. The heavy emphasis on reporting every step taken by rookie Justin Fields is a disservice to the rest of the players and detracts from the purpose of team play, which is to win games. The real story of the Bears is not about the progress of one rookie, but is about wins and losses, and they are not doing very well in that regard.
Poor “Beverly Hillbillies”: I was thinking of the 1960s TV show “The Beverly Hillbillies” in relation to the obscene wealth gap in this country. Today Jed Clampett really would be a poor hillbilly with his paltry millions of dollars and I bet Mr. Drysdale wouldn’t even give him the time of day!
Get your info straight: For those who don’t know, the oil that would have been transported in the Keystone pipeline was destined for Europe and beyond, not for the U.S. Jobs that would have been created were only temporary. Research before you blame the Biden administration. The president has no control over gas prices, only the oil companies do. They are the most profitable corporations in America and they don’t care about their own country’s plight.
Unequal and not fair: President Biden and Democrats are planning to offer part of their constituency higher incentives for union-made electric vehicles. The 14th Amendment of the Constitution guarantees equal treatment under the law. Does discriminating against electric vehicles made in nonunion shops sound like equal treatment?
More power than we knew: I had no idea the president of the United States set natural gas and gasoline prices. I always that the oil companies did that. Good to know.
Time’s the best gift of all: With the shortage of things at the store, what will one do? As a child, we grew up poor and had little but our talents to share, so we made things to gift, like food, clothing, crafts or a special item to share. There was no guilt in not being able to give a lot of “things” to someone because the best gift was time. Time to be with someone, visit a relative, a shut-in, someone in a hospital, help out at a nonprofit, etc. So little time and so much that can be done with the most precious thing we have, time.
