Indiana Rep. Vernon Smith, D-Gary, is a role model for all politicians. We’re fortunate to have him. He understands what it means to be a public servant. A servant humbly serves the people in meaningful ways, doesn’t scream and showboat to boost their ego, doesn’t use their elected office to profit themselves, and most importantly, has respect for others, even the other party. Area politicians, observe how Rep. Smith works. You could learn a lot. And we all would be better off.

It looks like we are on the verge of another huge COVID outbreak. Schools, and businesses and Major League teams are having big outbreaks. Wait until a few days after Christmas and it will explode. How long before the kids will return to remote learning again? Oh wait — that depends on how many politicians get involved, and the new “Republican Moms” groups that have sprouted up. They want to control teachers, our school boards and our administrators, regardless of how it affects our kids.

Unvaccinated people are destroying our healthcare system. Doctors and nurses are quitting in record numbers. Who will replace them? They’re burned out because they are overwhelmed by the unvaccinated hogging all the hospital capacity. The unvaccinated account for 99.96% of Indiana’s total COVID-19 hospitalizations and 99.98% of the deaths, said the Indiana Department of Health. If you have a heart attack, stroke, car accident or other emergency, a hospital may not have room for you, and you could die. Yet Indiana Republicans keep attacking masks and vaccines. Their policies are killing Americans. Get vaccinated. Mask up. Ignore Republican lunacy.

Where can I get this cheap gas? Filled up in Valpo today for $3.27 a gallon. I still remember that sweet running Trump gas selling for $1.98 per gallon.

Gas was down to $2.81 in Michigan City on 12/23/21. If Biden gets blamed when prices go up, it’s only fair he gets credit when prices go down. Right?

The media and Republicans blamed Biden for gas prices. Now that they are going down the are silent. The Republicans and media blamed Biden for the supply shortage. Now that the Christmas gifts are being delivered on time and the shelves are full, they’re silent. Republicans don’t want to help Americans. They’re Hippocrates!

An Exxon/Mobil refinery in Texas has suffered a fire and explosion. Gas prices will probably rise as a result, but the blame will surely be shifted by pipeline groupies to the non-operational Keystone XL pipeline cancelation.they will also likely blame the explosion on the cancelation, and throw Joe Biden in for good measure. The Fox News team will be hot on the story, as they need a good fantasy to end the year with.

Do you remember that old Agatha Christie movie, Ten Little Indians? Anyone? Pookie? I’m sure you do. That’s the Republican Party today. One by one …

Funny how someone writes in claiming to work in the ER and that they are somehow able to determine just by looking at someone without a mask on that they are unvaccinated. Did it ever occur to you that those without masks are BECAUSE they are vaccinated? Typical liberal — makes assumptions without facts and tries to mandate for all.

All of these gleeful Republicans that were happy to see President Biden’s approval rating drop due to overall inflation and especially high gas prices are the very ones now pushing it back up. Their refusal to get vaccinated is helping to spread the new variant causing a surge in cases, hospitalizations and deaths, which in turn is lowering gas prices, decreasing inflation and raising Joe’s approval ratings. Ironic, eh?

It appears those militias with their guns running around in the woods like little boys playing vigilantes didn’t exactly prevent an attack on America. Instead, they triggered one!

Let’s just say that in 2024 Trump again runs for election and loses again. And then, by hook and by crook and by erroneous claims of voter fraud, the election is thrown into the House of Representatives. Do you have any doubt in your mind how our seven Republican House members would vote? In a heartbeat, all seven would enthusiastically vote to overturn the election. They are traitors-in-waiting, every one of them.
