A Waukegan woman was killed Tuesday when her car was hit by another vehicle, causing a fiery crash along Illinois Route 120, Waukegan police said.

Authorities have not identified the woman, who was in her 20s, police said.

Police said the woman was attempting to cross eastbound Route 120 at River Road at about 2:45 p.m. when her Honda van was hit by an eastbound 2003 Infiniti sedan.

When police arrived, one of the vehicles was on its roof and on fire, authorities said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Infiniti driver, a Waukegan man in his 20, was hospitalized with a serious leg injury. Investigators could not find a valid driver’s license for the man, police said.

Police said that alcohol does not appear to be a factor, and authorities are determining the speed of both vehicles at the time of the collision.

Anyone who saw the crash or has information is asked to call the Waukegan Police Department’s Traffic Division at (847) 599-2630.
