A Round Lake Beach man was in custody at the Lake County jail after he allegedly kidnapped a Mundelein woman from her home and took her to a barn at a property he owns early Friday morning.

According to a Lake County sheriff’s office news release, deputies responding to a domestic dispute call at approximately 1:30 a.m. Friday at a barn in the 32800 block of Fairfield Road in unincorporated Mundelein, and arrested 44-year-old Claudio Gutierrez-Ocampo.

A preliminary investigation determined Gutierrez-Ocampo, whom officials identified as an ex-partner of the victim, unlawfully entered her home and began to argue with her after waking her up.

The victim’s adult daughter heard the commotion and woke up.

Gutierrez-Ocampo then battered the victim, forced her into his van and drove her to a barn at a property he owns in Mundelein, according to the release.

He then locked the victim in a makeshift bedroom inside the barn at the property and forcefully removed her clothes, the release said.

When the victim’s daughter realized her mother had been kidnapped, she drove to the Mundelein property and saw Gutierrez-Ocampo’s van outside, according to the release. She called 911 after she couldn’t get into the barn because it was locked.

Sheriff’s deputies were able to rescue the victim. She suffered injuries from the battering, but none were considered life-threatening, the release said.

Gutierrez-Ocampo was charged with several felony counts of kidnapping, home invasion, unlawful restraint and a misdemeanor for domestic battery.
