Former Chicago Cubs senior executive Jason McLeod and his wife, Nicole, in December sold their five-bedroom, 4,720-square-foot vintage house on Sheridan Road in Wilmette for their $1.39 million asking price.

McLeod was with the Cubs for a decade, and started in the team’s front office overseeing scouting and player development, including working to draft key members of the 2016 World Series-winning team. Most recently, he managed player personnel. He left the Cubs after his contract expired in October, and he joined the Arizona Diamondbacks in December as a special assistant to the team’s general manager.

The couple paid $1.12 million in 2018 for the house. Built in 1903, the house has 61/2 bathrooms, high ceilings, hardwood floors, a circular floor plan on the first floor, a family room with a fireplace, a formal dining room, an office with built-ins and a reading nook and a mudroom. Other features include a kitchen with a fireplace and a wall of windows overlooking the back deck, a second-floor primary bedroom suite with a fireplace and a balcony, and three other second-floor bedrooms, all with cedar closets.

The house’s third floor has a bedroom with a full bathroom, while the lower level has a media and game room and a rec room with a gym.

The McLeods first listed the house in September for $1.5 million. They cut their asking price to $1.39 million in October.

The house “was thoughtfully updated for today’s lifestyle while preserving the original architecture and spirit of this original east Wilmette home on iconic Sheridan Road,” listing agent Molly Maloney Inzitari of Coldwell Banker told Elite Street. “This stunning home boasts 5 bedrooms, 61/2 bathrooms, a huge chef’s kitchen and a glorious private backyard steps from Lake Michigan. The owners maintained the house to perfection.”

The house’s property tax bill has steadily declined since the McLeods bought it. It had a $21,113 property tax bill in the 2017 tax year, and it had a $16,461 property tax bill in the 2020 tax year.
