Police in Waukegan and North Chicago are investigating three shootings Wednesday that left one person dead and multiple people injured.
Two of the shootings took place in Waukegan, including one in which a man in his 30s was killed. Police said Thursday they do not believe the two incidents were connected.
Police said they responded to the 2400 block of Greenwood Avenue at around 8 p.m. for reports of shots fired, and located two victims with severe injuries.
Both were taken to the hospital, where the man, who was a Waukegan resident, died. The second person, a Milburn man in his 20s, remained hospitalized Thursday, police said.

The men, whose identities have not been disclosed, were believed to have been sitting in a parked car when unknown suspects in a dark sedan pulled up and opened fire, according to reports.
About two hours later, police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1400 block of Melrose Avenue, but learned the three victims had driven to a gas station in the 2700 block of Washington Street.
Police said the three victims are Waukegan residents, with two in their 30s and one in their 20s. All are expected to survive, authorities said.
Detectives think the three people were specifically targeted, police said.
Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call the Waukegan police “Tip-Line” at (847) 360-9001.

North Chicago confirmed that several people were injured in a Wednesday shooting, but a city spokesperson said he could not release additional details and referred questions to the police department. The police did not immediately respond to an email seeking information.
The city spokesperson said the victims are stable.
