The following items were taken from Highland Park police department and Lake County court clerk reports, news releases and records. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.
BURGLARY
Two men entered a residence through an unlocked side door in the 1600 block of Northland Avenue Sept. 24, were confronted by the resident and ran out of the house.
DOMESTIC BATTERY
Owen Alexander Brand, 22, of the 1600 block of Beverly Place in Highland Park, was charged with domestic battery, endangering the life of a child, driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal transportation of alcohol Sept. 18. He was stopped near the intersection of Skokie Boulevard and Lake Cook Road after police responded to a domestic complaint in a moving vehicle. Bail was set at $10,000. He is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court Oct. 4 in Waukegan.
DUI
Santos Hernandez, 45, of the 9300 block of Kenneth Avenue in Skokie, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage Sept. 25. Responding to a driving complaint, police stopped Hernandez on the Edens Expressway near Lake Cook Road. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court Oct. 14 in Waukegan.
THEFT
An unknown individual stole the catalytic converter from two vehicles parked in the 1400 block of Old Deerfield Road Sept. 19.
Someone stole the catalytic converter from a vehicle parked in the 1200 block of County Line Road Sept. 20.
Two unknown individuals entered a retail business in the 600 block of Roger Williams Avenue, put an undisclosed amount of cosmetics in their backpacks and left the store without paying Sept. 20.
