So sad that our local law enforcement feels the need to be out and make a presence at our voting polls. I appreciate them being proactive, but alarmed that they feel the need to be.
I am so happy Election Day is here. Now we can get back to Camp Lejeune and Medicare Part C commercials. Whew, we made it!
If you want to thank this combat vet, do it all year with good deeds and respect — not with a sandwich once a year.
It’s not a fair trade reducing Social Security benefits so a handful of fanatics can fantasize about overthrowing the government, play soldier, fight zombies, intimidate people, and generally act like idiots. And if you’re a paranoid parent, indoctrinated with hate from conservative religious fanatics and phony religious Republicans, keep your kids at home. The LBGTQ ”menace” is the just latest tactic by conservatives to enflame the masses. Finally, “we” aren’t exporting the oil, it’s the oil companies, who are making record profits. They’re hoping Trump gets back in, so he can give them another tax break and a free hand to pollute at will.
My father who was a combat medic in World War II would have been 98 today. He would rarely speak of what he saw in Europe. However, he once said he couldn’t believe that decent people followed a leader who lied to them and they destroyed their nation. As I watch Trump and the Republicans I now understand how that could happen. I’m glad my father isn’t here to see this. He would be heartbroken.
If the GOP wants to talk about the “integrity of our elections,” let them start with a discussion of the tens of thousands of eligible voters who Brian Kemp and Brad Raffensberger have purged from the voter rolls in Georgia. Or let’s hear them talk about those being arrested, put in handcuffs, and charged with felonies by Ron DeSantis’ election police agency. Or how about the almost 300 GOP candidates for offices who (1) still claim “Trump Won!” and (2) refuse to pledge to accept the results of the current election. And let’s not let them forget about the election vigilantes patrolling polling sites and drop boxes with body armor and automatic weapons. The Republicans party has a funny idea of what constitutes election “integrity.”
Quickly contributors who complain that churches should be taxed do not understand the intent of our Founding Fathers — to keep government from meddling in the freedom of religion. America had rejected the state church. Churches are nonprofits, as are philanthropic institutions. Should we also tax the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, hospitals and all our other nonprofits? If any church abuses its privilege, then let the law step in.
I am canceling my Post Tribune today after 20 years. Thank Quickly. Day before election 9 out of 9 comments printed are all 100% for Democrats. I don’t want a newspaper that’s 100% liberal.
Well, the people of Illinois did it again. They shot themselves in the foot. Just like they have been doing for the past 25 years. Are they bad shots or just crazy? Illinois will continue to be the land of high taxes, crime and corruption. They know no other way!
Power Ball is responsible for almost $2 billion and cannot handle a simple drawing? Hope the winner gets paid.
Tom Brady claims he wanted to save his marriage but never give up football? He must not have tried very hard to stay married but on his terms.
