Longtime community leader and former Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Nicki Anderson has been chosen to fill the Naperville City Council seat vacated by former Councilwoman Patty Gustin.
Anderson was selected by Mayor Steve Chirico and the City Council and will be sworn in at the Dec. 20 council meeting. She will fill the remainder of Gustin’s term, which ends in April.
Gustin was elected to the DuPage County Board representing in District 5, which includes a large portion of Naperville.
Anderson is employed as the director of L.E.A.D.S, the undergraduate women’s leadership program at Benedictine University in Lisle and was recently named executive director of university development.
She’s also a member of the Loaves & Fishes Community Services’ Board of Directors.
Anderson worked for five years as president and CEO of the Naperville chamber and was credited with enhancing engagement, growing the Young Professionals Network, and leading a capital campaign to raise $250,000 to fund technological advancements.
Before that she owned a health and fitness business for 20 years.
“Nicki’s former and current community experience is the perfect fit for the next four months on the dais,” Chirico said in a news release. “Her knowledge, leadership style and willingness to fill this vacancy provide a skillful voice to round out the council. I’m grateful that Nicki is once again stepping up to serve our community and lend her time and talents to all of us.”
