Downtown Yorkville businesses, in coordination with Yorkville Parks and Recreation, will host the seventh annual St. Patrick’s Celebration on Saturday, March 18, in Yorkville.

The event will feature the Lucky Leprechaun Hunt at parks throughout Yorkville from 9 a.m. to noon; an Irish parade beginning at 11 a.m. at Riverfront Park along Hydraulic Avenue; a performance by the Gleeson Irish Trio at 1 p.m. at the Law Office Pub & Music Hall, 226 S. Bridge St.; and a fireworks show at 6:30 p.m. at Route 47 and Countryside Parkway.

The Lucky Leprechaun Hunt invites families to follow clues posted on signs at each park to locate a hidden “pot of gold” and win a candy prize.

There will also be food and drink specials at downtown bars and restaurants during the day. Participating establishments include The Law Office Pub & Music Hall, Southbank BBQ, Rowdy’s, Dakotas, Parma Pizza, Iconic Coffee Shop, Suzy’s Bar & Grill and Roadhouse Rte 47.

Jazz vocalist to perform at St. Charles Public Library

The St. Charles Public Library’s Sunday Concert Series will continue at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, with a performance by Chicago-based jazz vocalist Abigail Riccards at the library, 1 S. Sixth Ave. in St. Charles.

The public is welcome and the concert is free to attend, library officials said.

Riccards will perform jazz standards and favorites from the Great American Song Book, event organizers said. She will be accompanied by pianist Chris White and bassist Sean Jacobi.

Riccards has performed at many of Chicago’s top jazz clubs, headlining at venues such as the Green Mill, the Jazz Showcase, Katerina’s and Andy’s Jazz Club, according to a press release about the upcoming show.

Presidents Day Kids’ Fair planned by county exec’s office

The Will County Executive’s Office is holding a free Kids’ Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Feb. 20, at Troy Middle School, 5800 W. Theodore St., Plainfield.

Most schoolchildren have the day off for Presidents Day. The fair is open to families across the region, Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant said in a news release.

The event features interactive and educational activities, including games, crafts, performances, storytelling and live animals.

Champions Beauty Barber University will give free haircuts. Community organizations and public agencies will offer information about their services.
