Orland Park police chief graduates from FBI Academy
Orland Park Chief of Police Eric Rossi has graduated as a member of the 285th session of the FBI National Academy.
The graduation took place at the National Academy in Virginia on March 16. Rossi joins the few before him in department history to complete this prestigious program. Nationally, less than 1% of public safety professionals have the opportunity to attend the program.
Rossi has been a member of the Orland Park Police Department for more than 19 years serving the community as a patrol officer, bicycle patrol officer, field training officer, investigator, patrol sergeant, lieutenant in administration, investigations commander, deputy chief to his current position as chief of police.
Orland Hills’ Mansour participates in NRMP
Mariam Mansour of Orland Hills was among the students to participate in the National Residency Matching Program in 2023.
Mansour, a senior medical student at the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, matched with Advocate Health Care in Oak Lawn for postgraduate training in pediatrics.
Two touring Japan with Augustana band
Andrew Whetter, from Homer Glen, and Cait Duffy, from Oak Forest, will visit multiple cities throughout Japan as part of the Augustana Symphonic Band.
The 50-person ensemble will perform pieces by Yasuhide Ito, Philip Sparke, Julie Giroux, David Maslanka, Frank Ticheli and John Philip Sousa.
Originally scheduled for spring 2020, the tour was postponed due to COVID-19. This tour is especially important to current seniors like Whetter and Duffy, as they will embark on their first tour abroad.
Orland Park’s Radz nominated for writing series
Kylie Radz, a senior communication studies major from Orland Park, was nominated to submit a “More Than I Imagined” profile by Jessica Nodulman, associate professor of communication studies.
Annually, faculty nominate Augustana’s best seniors to appear in the college’s “More Than I Imagined” series.
