A former Aurora man who broke into a Naperville woman’s house, sexually assaulted her and forced her to give him money from her bank account has been convicted of more than a dozen felonies by a DuPage County jury.
Jurors needed just two hours to find Thaddeus Jones, 26, guilty of eight counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, two counts each of home invasion and aggravated kidnapping and one count each of robbery and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
The victim told DuPage County sheriff’s deputies that Jones forced his way into her unincorporated Naperville home in March 2018, sexually assaulted her and had her drive him to her bank to withdraw money for him, a state’s attorney’s office news release said. After they returned to her house, he fled in her car.
DuPage County sheriff deputies located Jones at a Naperville motel a few hours later. He’s been held at the DuPage County jail since his arrest, the release said.
“This was a horrific, violent attack and sexual assault of an innocent woman in her own home,” State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.
“While the victim in this case will never be able to forget what happened to her, it is my sincerest hope that the jury’s finding of guilty on all counts will provide her some measure of justice knowing the man responsible for so much pain and suffering will be held accountable.”
Jones faces up to 120 years in prison when sentenced. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 30.
