A Chicago man is in Cook County Jail awaiting extradition in connection with an Oct. 17, 2021 Hammond gas station shooting that killed two people.

The silver Dodge Charger used in the shooting was stolen hours earlier in Chicago. The two other carjacking suspects are not named in court documents. They are potentially wanted for questioning in the murder case.

Damon Calhoun, 21, was charged in November 2022 with two counts of murder in the deaths of Christienne Cloutier, 27, and Krystol McDonald-Jones, 30, both of Chicago, according to court filings unsealed in Crown Point Monday.

Hammond Police were called around 11:30 p.m. Oct. 17, 2021 to a Citgo gas station, 403 Gostlin Street.

Court records indicate there may have been an altercation there that led to the shooting. Cloutier crashed his white Buick White Rendezvous into the northeast corner of an Uncle Sam’s Fireworks down the street.

McDonald-Jones appeared to be shot in the head and thigh. She was pronounced dead at the scene, while Cloutier was taken to the Franciscan Hammond ER where he was pronounced dead just after midnight. A young child, unhurt, was taken out of the backseat.

Police found reports of automatic gunfire and 50 bullet casings at the gas station. Investigators found a black and tan Glock handgun on the driver’s side floor of Cloutier’s SUV.

Earlier that night, a man said his silver Dodge Charger was stolen from a Chicago BP gas station, 8701 State St.

The other two suspects with Calhoun were also young, reportedly between ages 16-20.

The first suspect was a thin, Black male, wearing a “gator-style mask” with a black hoodie that had ‘Chicago’ in blue letters. He wore jeans with a red, white and blue stripe down the sides. The second suspect was a Black male with medium height, a “colorfully patterned” sweatshirt and light colored jeans. He wore a black ski mask.

The carjacking victim’s credit cards were used that night in Hammond at a Mobil gas station, 21 Gostlin St., then at the Citgo gas station, 403 Gostlin St.
