Parts of Interstates 94, 65 will close for surface treatment starting Monday
RAM Construction Services will be conducting high friction surface treatment on seven off-ramps along I-94 and I-65 beginning on or after Monday, September 25.
RAM, an Indiana Department of Transportation contractor, will treat the road to decrease road slippage for motorists exiting the interstate. Each ramp is expected to close for 3-5 days while the treatment is applied and will reopen as soon as the material has cured. This work is extremely weather dependent so the schedule is likely to change over the course of the project.
Next week, the work on eastbound I-94 to northbound U.S. 41/Calumet Ave ramp will cause closures on/after Monday, work on the eastbound I-94 to northbound Burr St ramp will start Sept. 27, and the ramp for eastbound I-94 to northbound S.R. 152/Indianapolis Blvd will close on Sept. 29.
The following week work is expected to start on the southbound I-65 to Ridge Road ramp on Oct. 2, the eastbound I-94 to northbound Kennedy Avenue ramp will close on on Oct. 4, and the eastbound I-94 to southbound Calumet Avenue ramp will close on Oct. 10.
Work on the southbound I-65 to U.S. 231 ramp is also expected to be completed during current closure. Motorists are encouraged to watch for signage in the area of these ramps or check 511in.org for updated information.
