
An Elgin man was critically injured Tuesday night when he lost control of his motorcycle after passing a car in Elburn, according to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred about 10:45 p.m. in the 4N600 block of Route 47. Alexander J. Esparza, 22, of the 3700 block of Middleton Court, was northbound when he went out of control and struck a guard rail, the sheriff’s office report said.
Esparza initially was taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva and later flown to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove in critical condidtion.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing, and it’s not known if drugs or alcohol played a role, the sheriff’s office said.
Campton Hills and Elburn police departments and the Elburn Fire Department assisted Kane County at the crash scene.
