A 10-year-old boy was shot and seriously wounded Friday night by gunmen firing into a home in the city’s Burnside neighborhood on the South Side, according to authorities.

The boy was struck in the chest by shots fired into a a home on the 1100 block of East 91st Street just after 7:30 p.m., according to Chicago police.

Police said three gunmen fired the shots from outside the residence.

A Chicago Fire Department spokesperson confirmed that an ambulance was dispatched to the scene, but said police had already transported the victim by the time they ambulance arrived.

The boy was rushed to Comer Children’s Hospital where he was listed in is in serious condition, according to police.
