A Round Lake Beach woman died Monday night after she was struck by two vehicles as she walked along a Gurnee roadway, according to police.

The woman, 56, was hit by a Buick Encore as she was walking in the northbound lane of Hunt Club Road around 9 p.m. The force of the initial collision threw her into the other northbound lane, where she was struck moments later by a second vehicle, reports said.

Her identity has not yet been released by authorities.

Gurnee police said the woman, who was wearing dark clothing, had walked across Hunt Club Road about 100 feet north of the Washington Street crosswalk. She was walking in the left lane of northbound Hunt Club when she was struck by a 24-year-old Kenosha man driving the Encore.

The force of the collision threw the woman into the right northbound lane, where she was struck by a 19-year-old Waukegan woman driving a Honda.

The injured woman was brought to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead from her injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Major Crash Assistance Team.
