A person of interest was being questioned by police after a 9-month-old girl was shot in the head overnight on the South Side in the Washington Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.
On Wednesday morning, officers responded to a report of someone being shot shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday in the first block of East Garfield Boulevard. Police discovered a 9-month-old girl suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and was taken in critical condition to Comer Children’s Hospital.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation.
Police said a person of interest was being questioned, and Wentworth District detectives are investigating.
