Burbank

STORE BURGLARY: Police are looking for four individuals who entered a children’s clothing store, taking merchandise collectively selling for $4,119.80, according to information released Monday. Security video shows an individual using a sledgehammer to smash through the glass front door at Carter’s, 7716 Cicero Ave., at 5:18 a.m. Oct. 23 and entering the store with three other persons, police said. They arrived and left in a box truck, transporting the merchandise in two laundry baskets and two tote bags, police said.

Evergreen Park

CHILD ENDANGERMENT: A school bus driver accused of abandoning a juvenile passenger told officers she left the child because she felt sick. Officers arrested Keitheia Johnson Adkins, 61, 8700 block of Washtenaw Avenue, Evergreen Park, Dec. 13 near 89th Street and California Avenue after the youngster was found, unharmed, in Oak Lawn, police said. Adkins, accused of endangering a child, said she picked up the juvenile at school, stopped at her residence and then left in another vehicle, leaving the youngster in the shuttle bus, police said. The child walked away from the bus after Johnson left, police said.

ILLEGAL GUN: Armani R. Velasquez, 20, 8700 block of Mozart Avenue, Evergreen Park, was arrested and accused of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon during a Dec. 14 traffic stop at 91st Street and Kedzie Avenue after an officer recovered a 9 mm handgun from him during a pat down and determined he lacked a concealed carry license, police said.

Frankfort

DUI CLASH: A Flossmoor man is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 29, charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a police officer and driving under the influence of alcohol, according to Will County court records online. An officer, responding to a citizen complaint call, found Michael S. Neary, 300 block of Carmel Drive, and a passenger asleep Dec. 13 in the 22700 block of Citation Road, police said. Neary admitted having knives when he awoke, refused to remove his hands from his pockets or to cooperate in a pat-down, and struck the officer’s hand and forearm several times while being handcuffed, police said.

Homewood

SHOTS FIRED: Emmanuel Simmons, 32, 18400 block of Kedzie Avenue, Homewood, was arrested Dec. 13 and accused of aggravated discharge of a firearm in connection with shots fired into an unoccupied parked vehicle and a garage unit around 12:45 a.m. Dec. 12, police said. Investigators said Simmons exited his residence and began randomly firing a gun in various directions with no specific target. Simmons initially told investigators he was leaving his home when unknown assailants shot at him and then fled in a car, police said.

Oak Lawn

ARMED ROBBERY: Two males wearing all black and ski masks took of wallets, purses, cellphones and keys at gunpoint from three individuals at about 8:20 p.m. Dec. 1 in a parking lot in the 4900 block of 111th Street, police said. The individuals told police they had exited the Barrel Club when a dark-colored sedan pulled up and the two males got out. A witness said a third person remained in the sedan, which officers later determined was stolen.

ILLEGAL GUNS: Two Chicago men were arrested in unrelated Dec. 10 events for unlawful use of a weapon despite having the state-required firearm owner’s identification and concealed-carry licenses after officers determined they were armed and intoxicated, police said. Larry J. Outlaw, 37, who had a 9 mm handgun, was arrested after crashing into a village sign at 94th Street and Cicero Avenue; and Yazan M. Rabadi, 40, who had a .357 revolver in a coat pocket, was taken into custody as he stood in the 10500 block of Cicero Avenue next to his operating car, police said. Outlaw was also accused of drunken driving with a blood-alcohol concentration above the legal limit and driving under the influence of drugs, police said. He was also accused of illegally transporting alcohol and adult-use cannabis after officers recovered an open bottle of tequila and a one-ounce bag of “grape cannabis” in his vehicle, police said.

Orland Park

RETAIL THEFT: Three migrants staying in Chicago were charged with felony retail theft after allegedly stealing clothes, shoes and perfume selling for $2,742 Nov. 29 from Macy’s, 1 Orland Square Drive, police said. Omar Garcia, 23, Jose D. Hernandez-Gonzalez, 27, and Luis J. Torres-Montes, 23, all from Venezuela, were arrested and, with the help of a Spanish-speaking officer, informed they were under arrest, police said. The merchandise was recovered from a car in the Orland Square mall parking lot, police said.

ILLEGAL GUN: Jordan D. Caples, 30, and Anthony D. Stallings Jr., 29, both of Joliet, were charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon Dec. 5 outside an Orland Square sports bar-arcade after officers recovered a loaded .22 caliber handgun from the car they had been in, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: A Lake Zurich man has been charged with felony retail theft in connection with the theft of golf equipment and other merchandise valued at $8,164.85 from Dick’s Sporting Goods, 1 Orland Park Place on Oct. 7, police said. Joel D. Kondic, 24, turned himself in to Orland Park investigators Dec. 12, police said. An employee at the Orland Park store was able to match stolen golf clubs with clubs Kondic offered for sale in a social media post, police said.

Palos Heights

DUI CRASH: Dennis Q. Kaftan, 47, 9400 block of Sawyer Avenue, Evergreen Park, was arrested and accused of driving under the influence of drugs, reckless driving and leaving the scene of a property damage collision during a Dec. 12 crash investigation in the 12200 block of Harlem Avenue, police said.

Park Forest

FELONY DUI: Police say a Chicago Heights man was charged with two aggravated drunken driving felonies Nov. 29 after speeding past an elementary school. DeMarco L. Burgs, 34, 1400 block of Donovan Drive, collected his second aggravated drunken-driving charge involving a person under the age of 16 in the vehicle and was charged with aggravated drunken driving/being arrested more than two times for driving with a revoked license, police said. DeMarco drove 41 mph at 7:45 a.m. past the fourth through sixth grade school, in the 100 block of Indiana Street, police said. Burgs is also accused of driving on a revoked license, speeding, driving without insurance and illegally transporting alcohol, police said.

DUI CRASH: Verdine L. Nunn, 38, 100 block of Algonquin Street, Park Forest, was arrested and accused of drunken driving and endangering a child’s life, in connection with a Dec. 1 two-vehicle crash at Western Avenue and Algonquin Street, police said. Nunn pulled out of Algonquin Street, ignored a no-left-turn sign and collided with the second vehicle, police said. She was also accused of resisting arrest and battery after struggling to prevent officers from handcuffing her and kicking an arresting officer, police said.
