A worker who fell 15 feet while working on the roof of the Frankfort Grainery off North White Street and Kansas Street Thursday afternoon is in stable condition after first responders safely executed a difficult rescue process.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m., a man was servicing an antenna on the roof of the grainery when he fell and severely fracturing his arm, according to a Frankfort Fire Protection District news release. When it was clear the man’s injuries prevented him from getting down to the ground on his own, Frankfort fire reached the worker first by walking up the stairs and meeting him at the top of the roof.

“As personnel began to bring equipment to the roof, they began to warm the patient with blankets and hot packs,” the department said in a statement. “They then began to treat the patient’s injuries. The patient was in stable condition and remained so throughout the incident.”
They brought the patient down to where an 80-foot ladder could meet him to take him down to the ground floor.
The man was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, the statement said. No injuries were reported to any of the rescuers.
