College of DuPage president plans to retire in June

College of DuPage President Brian Caputo has announced plans to retire June 30 at the conclusion of his current contract.

“During the past several months, I have carefully weighed the decision to retire as I witness the expansion of my family as well as my oldest son and his wife soon moving closer to the Chicagoland area,” Caputo said in the annoucement. “My wife, Karen, and I look forward to the next chapter in our lives and to devoting more time to service in our church.”

Before being named president in 2019, Caputo served two years as COD’s vice president for administrative affairs and chief financial officer of the institution. He succeeded Ann Rondeau as president.

During his tenure, Caputo led the efforts to develop the college’s first equity plan, a new institutional mission and the 2022-26 Strategic Long-Range Plan, a news release said.

Board Chair Christine Fenne said they will start the process to find Caputo’s successor.

“We look forward to creating a collaborative Presidential Search Committee representing all stakeholders,” she said.

Participants will learn about common scams targetting the elderly and how to report financial fraud if they are victimized, a news release said.
