COD offering free tax filing help for residents, students

The College of DuPage is offering free assistance to community members who are electronically filing federal or state taxes.

Sessions will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays from Feb. 10 to April 13 and on select weekday evenings at the Student Resource Center on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd. There will be no sessions available March 30.

Internal Revenue Service-certified accounting students at the College of DuPage will provide the assistance under IRS-certified instructor supervision.

Assistance is available to students, faculty, staff and community members. There is no income limit to receive the service.

Participants need to bring all 2023 pertinent tax documents, their 2022 returns and bank account information to receive their return via direct deposit. To schedule an appointment on the college’s website, go to www.cod.edu/academics/programs/accounting/tax-prep.html.

A new “Pride, Honor, Tradition” exhibit featuring artwork done by Naperville Art League members is on display at Naper Settlement.

‘Pride, Honor, Tradition’ exhibit runs through April 5

Naper Settlement and the Naperville Art League are presenting an exhibit featuring more than 35 artworks by league members through April 5 at the settlement’s Pre-Emption House Visitors Center, 523 S. Webster St.

The new exhibit, “Pride, Honor, Tradition,” is included with admission to Naper Settlement.

Local artists’ paintings, drawings, photos and other pieces focus on the themes of heroism, sacrifice and family, settlement officials said. Artwork in one gallery is inspired by the Naperville Fire Department’s 150th anniversary while a second gallery contains works covering a variety of theme-based pieces, according to a Settlement news release.

The art exhibit kicks off Naper Settlement’s year-long celebration of the department’s 150th anniversary. Another exhibit titled, “A Strong Back and a Strong Mind: 150 Years of the Naperville Fire Department,” will open in May.
