Niles police reported that a woman was dragged, punched and carjacked on Wednesday morning, April 3, at 9 a.m. in the Golf Mill Shopping Center parking lot.

The 48-year-old woman told police she parked her SUV, a 2019 BMW X5,
in the northwest parking lot near AMC Theater, on the Greenwood Street side of Golf Mill.

As the woman began to exit her vehicle, she was pulled from the vehicle by a male suspect, according to police. They struggled, and the suspect punched the woman in the face and threw her to the ground before driving off in her vehicle.

The woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident and first responders took her by ambulance to a hospital, police said. They described the suspect as a male, between about 20 and 25 years old, thin build, and wearing dark-colored pants.

At about 11:30 a.m., police said located the vehicle, which was unoccupied, parked in Chicago near Ashland Avenue at Howard Street in the Rogers Park neighborhood, per Niles police. They had it towed to the Niles Police Department for evidence processing.

Police are continuing their investigation.
