Daejon Ware, 22, was shot and killed early Monday morning in South Holland, according to a report from the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The South Holland Police Department responded to a report of gunfire on the 400 block of 160th Place, where Ware lived, at about 12:30 a.m. Monday, the village said in a statement.
“Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle occupied by at least three individuals parked in front of a residence,” the statement said. “Preliminary investigation indicates that an altercation may have taken place, during which a male in his early 20s sustained a gunshot wound.”
Ware was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 1:20 a.m. The medical examiner’s office said death was caused by multiple gunshot wounds.
The other two people found in the car are being questioned about the incident, the village said, and the investigation is ongoing.
The village asked anyone with information to contact South Holland Police Department detectives at 708-331-3131, Ext. 2.
