
Clarendon Hills has fared well previously in rankings by Niche, an online site that reviews and ranks communities and schools across the country. But the village is shining even brighter in the recently-released 2026 rankings. Clarendon Hills was cited as the Best Place to Raise a Family in America and was No. 1 in Illinois, and fifth nationally, in Best Places to Live rankings.
“Clarendon Hills’ continued recognition in the Niche rankings reflects what residents already know — this is a special place to live,” said acting village manager and lifelong Clarendon Hills resident Paul Dalen. “From our exceptional schools and safe neighborhoods to our family-focused downtown events, dedicated local businesses, and outstanding village staff, Clarendon Hills offers a truly unique and high-quality community experience.”
Niche rankings are based on comprehensive data analysis from sources including the Department of Education, the Census and resident reviews. Key factors include public school quality, safety, housing, diversity and overall livability.
The Best Places to Raise a Family ranking provides a comprehensive assessment of key factors that are meaningful for families, according to Niche. Assigned grades take into account key factors, such as the quality of local schools, safety, affordability, and access to family amenities, in an attempt to measure the appeal of an area for families.
The Best Places to Live rankings combine trusted public data, proprietary research, and millions of real resident reviews to give you a clear, comparable view of communities across the country, according to Niche From cost of living and crime to public schools, job opportunities, and local amenities, places are evaluated on the factors that shape everyday life.
“It’s definitely a feather in our cap for the community,” police Chief Ed Leinweber said of the rankings. “I know that we have a great relationship with our community. Clarendon Hills is a very safe community, and I like to think that we have something to do with that.”

Village officials stated that Clarendon Hills offers a unique blend of small-town charm and convenient access to the greater Chicago region.
“The village’s thriving downtown, parks, and community events contribute to its strong sense of place and high quality of life,” they said.
Village officials and community leaders credit the rankings to the collaborative efforts of residents, educators, local businesses, and civic organizations.
“We are incredibly proud of this recognition,” said village President Eric Tech.“It reflects the dedication of our entire community and motivates us to continue investing in what makes Clarendon Hills such an exceptional place to live, work, and raise a family.”
