Gunshots fired Friday night in downtown Naperville have been confirmed but police are still searching for the suspects responsible, officials said.

The incident occurred about 7:55 p.m. when officers on patrol heard shots coming from an alley near the first block of East Chicago Avenue, a news release said.

Juveniles were seen fleeing but despite detaining several people for questioning, no one was charged, the release said.

Officers located “evidence consistent gun fire,” but no victims, property damage or firearm was found, the release said.
