CURBSIDE BULK BRUSH PICKUP BEGINS MAY 4
Naperville’s annual curbside brush collection, which allows residents to dispose of tree and shrub branches for free, will begin the week of May 4.
The city will be divided into five collection areas corresponding to residents’ garbage day. Residents with garbage day on Mondays should put their branches on the curb by Sunday, May 3, for collection in the coming week.
Those with Tuesday collection days will do the same starting Sunday, May 10; Wednesday collection days should have items ready by May 17; Thursday by May 24; and Friday by May 31.
Due to the Memorial Day holiday, branches that week will be picked up starting Tuesday, May 26, officials said.
Branches must be placed neatly in the parkway in front of homes with cut ends facing the street, a news release said. Branches can be between three and eight feet long and no greater than six inches in diameter.
Thorned branches should be placed in a separate pile. Brush piles should not be tied, bundled or badly tangled and they should not contain nails, metal, stones, root balls, stumps or similar items.
Willow whips, vines and shorter branches will not be picked up during brush collection. They must be placed in a bag with a yard waste sticker and left for pick up on a resident’s regular garbage day.
