A man’s body was found in the Fox River in St. Charles Wednesday morning, according to the St. Charles Police Department.

At around 9:10 a.m., the St. Charles police and fire departments responded to the 200 block of North Second Street for a report of an unresponsive man floating in the Fox River, the police department said.

The man was found dead in the water, according to Deputy Police Chief Rich Clark.

Following an initial investigation by police, the Kane County Coroner’s Office was notified, the department said. The man’s body has since been taken to the Coroner’s Office for further investigation and identification.

The police department said additional information will be released as it becomes available. An autopsy is to follow, but it was not known as of Wednesday afternoon when it will be conducted, according to Clark.
