An elderly man was killed Thursday in an early morning house fire on the city’s Northwest Side, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Killed was Robert Atkinson, 84, according to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
Police and fire crews responded to a residential fire in the 5800 block of North Louise Avenue in the Forest Glen neighborhood just before 6 a.m., according to Chicago police. First responders removed a man who sustained burns to his body. He was pronounced dead on scene, police said.
Fire officials were investigating.
