
ELGIN RELEASES SUMMER CONCERT, MOVIE SCHEDULE
Elgin has announced the lineups for its free, outdoor summer movie and concert entertainment season.
From 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays between June 4 and Aug. 13, Elgin’s Concerts in the Park series will offer performances by a variety of acts, including funk, Latin rock, a youth orchestra, Beatles-inspired polka and a silent disco in which attendees pick their own tunes, according to a news release.
Concerts will rotate between the Wing Park bandshell, 1010 Wing St., and Lords Park pavilion, 100 Oakwood Blvd. Things get underway June 4 with Santana tribute band Soul Sacrifice.
At 6:30 p.m. Fridays between June 5 and Aug. 14, the city will present Movies in the Park, featuring children’s activities followed by screenings of family-friendly movies in parks across Elgin. The first on June 5 will be “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” at Festival Park, 132 S. Grove Ave.

TOWN HALL ON NAMING LARKIN SPORTS STADIUM
A town hall meeting to obtain community input on naming Larkin High School new outdoor sports stadium will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at the school, 1475 Larkin Ave., Elgin.
The stadium is scheduled to open in the fall and will feature a turf field, running track and seating for more than 2,000 spectators, according to the School District U-46 website.
Larkin was built in 1962 but has never had its own athletic complex. The new facility will allow the Royals to host their home football and soccer games on campus, following decades of playing at other sites.
A recommendation will be presented to the U-46 School Board on May 18, with a final board vote expected June 1.
PLANT SALE BEING HELD AT ST. HUGH CHURCH
St. Hugh of Lincoln Episcopal Church will hold its annual spring fundraiser plant and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, on its grounds at 36W957 W. Highland Ave., Elgin.
The sale will feature homegrown flower, vegetable and herb plants ready for gardens and containers, according to a news release. There also will be vendors selling indoor and outdoor decor, personal and pet items, and unique Mother’s Day gifts.
Shoppers can also buy freshly made bakery goods, used garden tools and colorful handcrafted items. Credit cards will be accepted on purchases of $10 or more. Proceeds support St. Hugh’s outreach ministries.

STUDENTS RECEIVE SEIGLE SCHOLARSHIPS TO ECC
Four local students will attend Elgin Community College at no cost this fall as members of the 2026-27 Seigle Scholar program.
The program, established in 2024 by Mark and Robin Seigle, supports graduating high school seniors and first-year college students by covering all student expenses for up to 60 credits toward an associate degree at ECC, according to a news release. This is the program’s third group of scholars.
Those receiving the scholarships are:
Juliana Arroyo, a Hanover Park resident and Bartlett High School senior who will major in nursing;
Danielle Ayala, an Elgin resident and St. Charles North High School senior who plans to study nursing;
Leah Foerster, an Elgin High School senior from Elgin who plans to study psychology;
Solis Jaime, a Carpentersville resident and Hampshire High School senior who will pursue an associate degree in liberal studies.
