A homicide investigation is underway in northwest suburban Schaumburg after a woman was found strangled Thursday night in the Weathersfield subdivision, police said.
Officers discovered the woman through a wellness check when Schaumburg police were called out to a residence in the 1700 block of Weathersfield Way at around 9:20 p.m. and found the victim dead inside, a department spokesperson said in a statement.
Officers also located a man known to the woman inside the residence, police said. He was taken into custody.
The woman’s identity had not been publicly released as of Friday afternoon, but the Cook County medical examiner’s office said she was 43 years old and lived in Schaumburg. She died by strangulation, according to the medical examiner’s office, which ruled the woman’s death a homicide.
Authorities Friday said the investigation remained ongoing and that they will provide updates when more information was available.
