Two West Aurora District 129 elementary schools will have new principals when the new school year starts in August.
Brian Lawson will assume the role of principal at Fearn Elementary School when students return to the classroom for the next school year.
Lawson currently serves as principal of Strassburg Elementary in Sauk Village School District 168, where he has led schoolwide instructional improvement efforts, implemented student intervention structures and expanded family and community engagement opportunities, district officials said.
Lawson has leadership experience from prior roles, including director of curriculum and instruction as well as elementary principal across multiple districts, officials said.
According to the district, Lawson has completed all doctoral coursework toward a doctorate in Educational Leadership at Concordia University Chicago, with dissertation work in progress. Lawson holds a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from North Central College and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Brown University.
Also, the district has announced that Joseph Lindsey has been appointed to serve as principal of Hill Elementary School next school year.
Lindsey currently serves as an elementary principal and English Learner coordinator in Richland School District 88A, where he has led school improvement planning, supported bilingual programming and worked on strengthening family engagement, district officials said.
His leadership experience includes prior service as a middle school assistant principal and English Learner specialist, according to officials.
Lindsey holds a master’s degree in school leadership from Concordia University Chicago, a master’s degree in communications from Governors State University and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Governors State University.
