A 45-year-old woman was left in critical condition Monday evening after she was struck in a hit-and-run accident in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 8 p.m., the woman was walking north in the 3100 block of West Franklin Boulevard when she was struck by a maroon vehicle that fled the scene, police said.

The woman suffered head injuries, and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

The Major Accidents Investigation Unit was investigating.
