A cyclist was fatally struck by a car in the city’s Bridgeport neighborhood Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The cyclist, a 35-year-old man, was riding a bicycle in the 3200 block of South Halsted Street when he was struck by a vehicle in traffic around 4:40 p.m., according to Chicago police. The man was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity wasn’t immediately released.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit was investigating.
