A woman bicyclist died Tuesday night when she was struck by a freight train in Grayslake, Lake County authorities said.
The Lake County Coroner’s office said it did not expect to release the woman’s name until Thursday.
She was struck by a CN freight train at about 8:10 p.m. at the intersection of Lake and Hillside in Grayslake, Metra spokesperson Meg Riele said.
The woman was reportedly riding a bicycle when she was struck.
Metro was asked to oversee the investigation, although none of its trains were involved, Riele said.
The accident did not affect commuter rail service which had ceased for the day on that rail line, she said.
Additional details were not available Wednesday.
