Two rounds of severe thunderstorms are expected to move through the area on what is expected to be the hottest day of the week, according to the National Weather Service.
The warm weather pattern moving into the Chicago area is expected to bring temperatures into the lower 90s and heat indices up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the weather service.
Two windows of severe thunderstorms are expected to follow the heat, the first occurring between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and the second from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Both windows will remain within the moderate range of severity with the risk of damaging wind speeds of up to 75 miles per hour, according to the weather service.
Heat and storms are expected to stay in the area through Thursday, with temperatures expected in the high 80s.
