PET MICROCHIPPING EVENT AT CARPENTER PARK

The Carpentersville Police Department, in partnership with community safety and animal care organizations, will be hosting a pet microchipping event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 20, in Carpenter Park, 275 Maple Ave., Carpentersville.

The first 50 Carpentersville residents with a valid ID will be able to have their pets chipped for free, according to a village social media post. Otherwise, the fee is $15 per animal, payable by cash or check.

Adults 18 or older must accompany and handle their pets. Cats must be kept in carriers and dogs must be leashed. If a pet requires muzzling, it should be done prior to arrival, the post said.

‘POLLINATORPALOOZA’ AT RANDALL OAKS ZOO

Randall Oaks Zoo in West Dundee will be holding “Pollinatorpalooza” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 20.

“Birds, bats, butterflies and bees play a vital role in keeping our ecosystems healthy, and this special day is all about them,” a Dundee Township Park District website post said about the event.

Activities will include local honey tasting; details on beekeeping and insects that pollinate plants; pollinator-themed games; headband making; and native wildflower seed distribution.

YWCA HOLDING 125TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Tickets are on sale for the YWCA Elgin 125th Anniversary Auction & Celebration being held from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Carmina’s Mexican Restaurant and Banquets, 1055 N. Randall Road, Elgin.

The evening will feature Mexican food, games of chance, a raffle and the announcement of scholarship and legacy award winners, according to the YWCA website. Event proceeds will support the nonprofit’s programs and services.

EAST DUNDEE WINE WALK TO BE HELD AUG. 22

Tickets are on sale for the fourth annual East Dundee Wine Walk, which is being held downtown from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, and hosted by East Side Cafe, 311 Barrington Ave., East Dundee.

The walk will feature wine tastings at various downtown venues, according to the Eventbrite post. Attendees will receive a commemorative glass and a swag bag filled with wine-related items.

‘AGING WITH GRACE AND HUMOR’ AT ELGIN LIBRARY

Gail Borden Public Library Foundation will host a return engagement of “Aging with Grace and Humor” at 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 19-20, at the main library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin.

The 90-minute play, written by Elgin residents Sylvia Grady and Cherie Murphy, takes a comic look at aging. The revival’s cast features Grady; Murphy; philanthropist Mark Seigle; local activist Karen Fox; and Elgin historian Jerry Turnquist.

Grady said in a release that when the play premiered in 2021 as a fundraiser for Senior Services Associates, both nights sold out. This time, the performance will benefit the Gail Borden Public Library Foundation.
