The death of a 44-year-old Campton Hills woman who was found unresponsive on the driveway of her home last month has been ruled an accident, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.

An investigation has determined the woman’s cause of death to have been an accidental vehicle-pedestrian collision, and no criminal charges will be filed, the office said.

On May 8, police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 4N600 block of Brookside West Drive, finding a woman unresponsive on the driveway of her home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was ultimately identified as Nena Peduzzi, 44, by the Kane County Coroner’s Office. Following an autopsy, preliminary findings indicated cranial cerebral injuries consistent with an auto vs. pedestrian incident, officials said.

Now, an investigation has determined Peduzzi’s cause of death to have been an accidental vehicle-pedestrian collision, the State’s Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

A review of the available evidence indicated that the incident was an accident, per the State’s Attorney’s Office, and not the result of negligence on the part of the driver. No criminal charges will be filed in connection with the incident.

The Campton Hills Police Department was assisted in its investigation by the Kane County Coroner’s Office, Fox Valley Major Crimes Task Force, Kane County Sheriff’s Office and Elburn & Countryside Fire Protection District, the news release said.

Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser, in the news release, called Peduzzi’s death “a truly heartbreaking and tragic accident.”

The State’s Attorney’s Office said no further information will be provided about the incident at this time due to the “private nature of this matter.”
