The Valparaiso Chain of Lakes Watershed Group has a busy Saturday planned for environmentalists.

The 18th Living With Lakes seminar, from 10 a.m. to about 3:30 p.m. at Rogers Lakewood Park’s Hickory Grove pavilion, includes speakers on climate change, insect biodiversity, geospatial technologies, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, PFAs (forever chemicals) in Indiana fish, plastic pollution, and turtles in the watershed.

Admission to the park is free for the event. Free kayaking will be offered nearby following the event.

During lunch, IDEM’s Malorie Medellin will give an overview of the agency, and exhibitors may give short presentations about their displays.

The event was formerly named Nature Palooza, Valparaiso Chain of Lakes Watershed Group President Walt Breitinger said. For the past 10 years, a generous and conservation-minded former teacher has donated free admission to the park for the event, he said.
