Franciscan Alliance CEO stepping down
Franciscan Alliance CEO Kevin Leahy is stepping down from his position effective Dec. 31, according to a release from the nonprofit Catholic healthcare ministry.
After stepping down as CEO, he will assist in the leadership transition until the end of 2027, when he will retire after 48 years with the organization, the release said.
Franciscan Alliance system includes 11 hospital campuses, more than 16,000 employees and a number of nationally recognized Centers of Health Care Excellence. Hospitals include Franciscan Health Carmel; Franciscan Health Crawfordsville; Franciscan Health Crown Point; Franciscan Health Dyer; Franciscan Health Indianapolis; Franciscan Health Lafayette; Franciscan Health Michigan City; Franciscan Health Mooresville; Franciscan Health Munster; Franciscan Health Indianapolis Orthopedic Hospital and Franciscan Health Rensselaer.
Sports medicine doc joins Franciscan
Dr. Kyle Meyer, a sports medicine physician, is now part of the Franciscan Physician Network and is accepting new patients in Munster.
Meyer earned his medical degree from Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona, according to a release. He completed his fellowship in primary care sports medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and served as assistant team physician for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Flyers.

Methodist gala raises $333K
The Methodist Hospitals Foundation Gala recently brought together supporters, caregivers, community leaders and philanthropists to raise more than $333,000.
The gala, at Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana in Gary, focused on patients, families, caregivers and the donors whose support makes care possible, a release said.
F. Richey Eibel was presented the Methodist Hospitals Foundation Champion Medal, recognizing 53 years of volunteer service and leadership at Methodist Hospitals. Throughout more than five decades, Eibel has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advancing the hospital’s mission, supporting patients and caregivers and strengthening the communities Methodist Hospitals serves, the release said.
Golf outing nonprofit recipients announced
Organizers of the 2026 Hard Hat Charity Golf Outing have announced the four local nonprofits selected to receive donations from the proceeds of this year’s event.
Held annually by the Northwest Indiana Business RoundTable, the two-day event invites business representatives, community partners and industry stakeholders for a round of golf, networking and the opportunity to raise funds in support of charities, a release said.
This year’s recipients are Boys & Girls Club of Greater Northwest Indiana, Goodwill Industries of Michiana Inc., Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana Inc. and TradeWinds Services Inc., the release said.
This year’s event is set for Sept. 17-18 at the White Hawk Country Club in Crown Point.. More information is available at nwibrt.org.
Summer Health Series planned in Schererville
Franciscan Health is partnering with the Schererville Parks & Recreation Department to provide a free weekly Summer Health Series, according to a release.
The Friday morning programs will begin with a health education session presented by Franciscan, followed by a light group walk or other physical activity. The events will take place at 9:30 a.m. on six Fridays beginning July 10 and running through Aug. 21 at the Schererville Community Center, 500 E. Joliet St. There will be no session on July 17, the release said.
