A man was shot and killed early Monday morning in the Roseland neighborhood, Chicago police said.

The 57-year-old man was shot in the chest at around 4:15 a.m. in the 9900 block of South State Street, outside of the CTA’s 98th Street rail maintenance facility.

He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said. He later died at the hospital.

A spokesperson from the CTA said the incident did not involve any CTA passengers.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
