Lawson Products Inc. said Wednesday that sales gains and lower federal taxes boosted second-quarter net earnings to $3.9 million, or 41 cents a share, up 37 percent from $2.9 million, or 30 cents a share, a year earlier.
Sales rose 6.9 percent, to $36.6 million from $34.2 million.
The Des Plaines-based distributor of industrial fasteners said that net income for the first half was $6.9 million, or 70 cents a share, up 30 percent from $5.3 million, or 54 cents a share, a year earlier.
Sales for the six months were $69.8 million, up 6.6 percent from $65.5 million.
